DK vs HLE – LCK Cup 2025 Preview

The LCK 2025 season kicked off last week and DK has come out as the big surprise of the new season. Not only did they beat T1 in their debut match but the team showed up with convincing gameplay and most importantly, creative drafting.

In the series against DNF, the team led by ShowMaker picked up Elise support, Pantheon jungle, and Zilean mid, putting the enemies into confusion about the role’s assignments. Despite the messy start to the game, the draft worked out great against DNF’s team composition, constantly punishing the key threats.

With support BeryL returning to the roster and the promotion of Siwoo from the academy team, DK started out in one of the best ways possible. And with Gen.G also going 2-0 in the group, there is a high chance that the elder group will end up being the winner’s group. For now, the only other big hurdle for DK is HLE, who they are facing this week.

Series Breakdown

While HLE looked like the winners of the offseason with the addition of Zeus to the roster, HLE started out quite slowly and hasn’t looked as explosive as some might have expected. There are no questions or doubts regarding their potential but it feels like HLE is still sticking to its traditional playstyle from last season, and showing slower adaptation compared to other teams in the league.

DK is likely going to find new edges in the draft against HLE and that is supposed to give them an advantage. They have also been more proactive than most teams, which has shown to be a positive aspect in the current meta. Unless they fumble hard in the early stages of the game, we should expect DK to come out on top.

If HLE is able to hold down the early game, then we might get to see a close series between the two. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised seeing DK taking down HLE 2-0.
