For the past week, while looking for Overwatch news, I have just kept seeing leaks, hints, and rumors about Overwatch coming to Fortnite. And why does anyone care?
The latest “hint” at the collaboration? Some buildings in a Fortnite gameplay trailer. There’s a blurry building up on the cliffs that sorta looks like the building from an Overwatch map, Hanamura. Then there’s a tall, futuristic building that could be similar to the ones in Watchpoint: Gibraltar.
I’m not here to say whether these are actually hints or not. I’m here to say: I don’t care either way.

Fortnite collaborations are not news
Right now, Epic has not confirmed that Overwatch heroes or locations are coming to Fortnite. But would this even be shocking? Almost every video game ever has appeared in Fortnite, as well as every hero, celebrity, movie, television show, cartoon… I don’t see what is so interesting.
Right now, the rumored skins aren’t even interesting: Tracer, Genji, Mercy, and D.Va. These are the most expected and safe choices. A real snoozefest. Out of all the heroes in the game, we’re getting the most bland ones. Mercy gets a new skin basically every month. Guess this is an easy way to make more money with some cross-pollination.
Do people even play Fortnite anymore? I know battle royale player count has been declining. And Fortnite is the lamest one there is. I’ve argued in the past that it’s not even an esports due to the RNG. I also just don’t see what’s so interesting about a game with tons of skins and cosmetics based on IPs that are trying to advertise to kids before launch. The game is just an interactive commercial aimed at children.
But alright, I guess Overwatch could be next. Yipee.
