Regen 2024 saw a huge win for Glutonny in the Athena Theatre this weekend. The win kicks off the start of a new LumiRank season.
Glutonny wins Regen 2024
The run through winner’s side went largely without a hitch. Coming in as the number 3 seed. They were expected to make it into the final stage in that same winner’s side.
The stage that once hosted the X Factor now is home to the UK’s largest Smash Major.
With the UK’s best set to defend the turf, Luugi, Mazebeans and Bloom4Eva were ones to watch. Unfortunately, none of the UK’s finest would be taking to the stage for finals. Crashing out at 9th, 13th and 17th respectively. Still incredible showings amongst the 720+ entrants.
Europe’s Number 1 (crêpe salée) and former Number Glutonny were amongst the top seeds. Gluto is no stranger to UK soil, however neither of the French powerhouses were projected to add to the trophy cabinet in Regen’s first trip to Leicester.
The GOAT in attendance, the number 1 seed would lie squarely next to MKLeo’s name. Both he and MKBigBoss as part of a country hopping Smash grind were in attendance and in the top 8.
Europe’s character diversity was once again on show. With Greninja, Ridley, R.O.B, Inkling, Pyra and Mythra, Wario, Rosalina and Joker joining Minecraft’s Steve in top 8 representation.
When the dust settled it would be Wario coming out on top. Piloted by Gluto all the way through winner’s side.
When asked with trophy in hand, he only had 2 words for the crowd. “I’m back.” The win here including big wins over the new EU #1 and a well performing MKLeo should lay to rest some doubts people had after some shaky performances since switching from GameCube controller due to hand health concerns.
