Fortnite will have some downtime before Chapter 5 Season 4 officially arrives. Epic Games recently moved up the end time for the current season, but that doesn’t mean the time to transition from season to season will be any shorter.
In fact, this will be a relatively long dead period, especially for one that doesn’t involve changing chapters. Those are usually massive updates since the entire island and theme often change. From season to season, the tweaks are smaller, but evidently not for Chapter 5 Season 4.

Fortnite Downtime for Chapter 5 Season 4 Revealed
Once Chapter 5 Season 3 ends, there will reportedly be about five hours of Fortnite downtime.
This is far from the lengthiest dead period the game has seen, though. The Black Hole event and the transition into Chapter 5 following the Eminem live concert were both significantly longer. This estimated downtime is courtesy of leaker ShiinaBR. They shared that Epic expects that the dark time will be around that long.
For a few hours, players will have to wait and play something else. But it’s likely going to be worth the wait, as the trailer and teasers suggest an epic Marvel season filled with fun items, great battle pass skins, and so much more. It’s obvious why the downtime is slated to take so long as there looks to be significant changes to the loot pool and map coming later today.
When Does Chapter 5 Season 3 End?
Chapter 5 Season 3’s end date and time got pushed up, as mentioned. Instead of ending on August 16 as initially stated, it will end the day before. Today, at 11 pm EST on August 15, players will no longer be able to attempt leveling up to get the T-60 Power Armor, Megalo Don, or anything else from this battle pass. Ironically, this will be the last exclusive battle pass.
Then, five hours later, the new Marvel skins and items will be in the game and live!
