How Many Skins Are in Fortnite? – 2024 Update

One of the most popular aspects of Fortnite has always been the many skins that can be unlocked and purchased through the game’s store. In the last six years, we’ve seen a staggering number of them appear, but how many skins are in Fortnite in total?

At the moment, there are nearly 2,000 skins in Fortnite! At just under, the total count is progressing through the 1,900s in Chapter 5 Season 4. By the time we reach OG 2 and Chapter 6, we’ll likely have crossed that 2,000 threshold.  Although, the total is pretty hard to keep track of.

The store gets new skins nearly daily. While we have lulls sometimes, it’s not a static number. Very few players manage to collect everything. They’re some who have, but it’s basically a full-time job. A big part of that is how wide the source for all skins in Fortnite has become.

We got Ghoul Trooper, a Halloween skin that’s also held up as particularly OG. Along with Battle Passes, Bundles, tie-ins, and more. Now skins refresh daily and it’s nearly impossible to keep up with all of them. Even if you only follow the skins that are limited and can’t come back, there’s a new one each month with the Crew Pack.

By now, we’ve seen over 1,900 outfits and skins released in Fortnite. It’s a remarkable figure that almost seems unbelievable, but it’s the truth. That’s a whole lot of customization options! Even just looking at Maya the Battle Pass create-a-character, it’s in the millions.

All Skins in Fortnite Over 6 Years

Across all Fortnite seasons, more than 1,900 skins have been released. If you break that down, it’s around 22 skins per month, every month, since the game launched. Although, these are more heavily concentrated in more recent seasons. The skins have gotten more adventurous too. Epic only rarely includes outfits to tie in to the actual Fortnite world anymore. For headline releases, we more get skins from the wider worlds of pop culture. Since Fortnite X Naruto, we’ve even been getting anime skins.

How many skins are in Fortnite makes sense when you consider that skins serve as the base financial model of the free-to-play Battle Royale game. Players especially go mad to buy skins they think will be the rarest Fortnite outfits. There are skins for weapons, gliders, and of course, characters, and it’s a diverse and vibrant marketplace.

If we were to count all cosmetics in the game, the total number would get even higher. That’s not even counting the many different skins that can be made with the customizable characters. Maya had 9.2 million different styles possible. Not every skin in Fortnite works this way, but the customization means there are so many more different variants.

Some of the most popular Fortnite skins sell in the millions, with fans rushing to purchase them on launch. This includes special edition crossovers, which in recent years have included the likes of Marvel’s Avengers, Star Wars, Dragon Ball, Fortnite X Naruto and countless videogame franchises. Lego Fortnite Skins – How Many Skins in Fortnite Have Brick Forms?

When discussing how many skins are in Fortnite, we now have to count even more versions of the outfits. Since the Lego mode launched, Epic has been rolling out special their trademark brick versions of skins. Most of the original character skins received these at launch. At the moment, there are more than 1,200 available in this mode.

The Lego skins come in two types, however. There are the skins that have been made from the ground up with custom pieces. Then there’s the skins which are simple Lego people with the textures mapped onto them. The second type is getting closer replaced with higher quality versions. However, at the moment, there are only around 350 of the high quality Lego skins.

There are some skins that don’t get Lego versions. These are often the Fortnite collab skins. Lego and Epic don’t have the rights to make new forms of every character which does limit it. More and more collabs are getting Lego versions though.

Rare Means Rare

Fortnite has some differences in its monetisation. At least when compared to other games that feature skins as a financial model, such as CSGO. In Counter-Strike, skins can be unlocked, traded, and even used to fund gambling practices. Where Fortnite is concerned, a skin unlocked is a skin kept forever – you can’t trade or sell them. If somebody wants to sell Fortnite skins, they’ll need to sell their entire account to another player seeking that skin. Even then, it’s against Epic’s rules.

For those that have staked a claim to the top 50 rarest skins or emotes in Fortnite, for example, this could be a lucrative – but unsafe – practice. Although, Epic has been known to bring skins out of retirement. Even those two original Fortnite skins have returned in the last six months. Fortnite OG saw quite a few of the previously rarest outfits re-released for a day. Not every skin in Fortnite is rare though. Unless it’s a Battle Pass or Crew Pack skin, you can’t be sure it won’t return next time the item shop refreshes.
