Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong are powerful abilities that allow you to take the form of bosses and minibosses you beat throughout the game. You can use their abilities against other foes, even giving you an extra health bar, making each fight much easier to complete. Let’s face it: unless you’re a hardcore Gamer with a capital G, you will use Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong to complete the game.

How to get Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong

To unlock the ability to get Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong, meet the strange man near Snake Trail Shrine in Chapter 1. From this point onwards, you’ll be able to absorb the Spirits of the bosses you defeat in the game.

When you beat a boss, they will leave behind a blue flame. Grab it to take the Spirit for use later. Don’t worry if you miss one, or defeat a boss before unlocking the ability to absorb Spirits. If you head to a Keeper’s Shrine, press the “Retrieve Spirits” option to get the missed one from there.

Equipping and Using Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong

Once you have a Spirit in Black Myth: Wukong, equipping it is easy. Head to the “Equipment” tab of your inventory, and there is a Spirit slot. Simply press it, and choose from the Spirits you’ve unlocked so far.

While in combat, you can press F (on PC) or both controller triggers (on console) to use the Spirit. You will then transform to whatever Spirit you have active in your Equipment slot. This is only temporary, but is incredibly overpowered when it comes to defeating any of the bosses in the game.

Upgrade Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong

When you’re at a Keeper’s Shrine, you’re also able to upgrade your Spirits. Under the “Self-Advance” menu, you can head to the “Cultivate Spirits” menu. From there, you’ll have the option to “Hold to Cultivate.” This allows you to spend Will on upgrading your Spirits, giving them new effects each time.

It’s worth noting that with these upgrades, you can’t respec them in Black Myth: Wukong, unlike other skills in the game. Be sure to spend your Will wisely!
