One the best things about a new WoW expansion is getting to grips with a new Allied Race, and Earthen are the new creatures unlocked during World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, The War Within.

How to unlock Earthen in WoW

To unlock Earthen in WoW you’ve got a few steps. As per the in-game achievement tied to the Allied race, you need to make sure you’ve completed The War Within Campaign, the ‘Mourning Rise’ storyline, and the ‘Broken Tools’ and ‘Merrix and Steelvein’ storylines as well.

You’ll also need to make sure you’re level 80, which will be part of completing these Storylines anyway.

What are the Earthen in World of Warcraft?

The Earthen, the new Allied race, may look like typical Alliance faction dwarves, but but are actually creatures that predate the dwarfs and are early versions of them. They’re a titan-forged race that were created by the Titanic Keepers to shape the underground worlds around them during the creation of Azeroth

In-game Earthen can be Horde or Alliance, and don’t have any specific in universe alignment – you’re free to choose. You can also choose the following classes for your Allied Race Earthern character: 

Hunter
Mage
Monk
Paladin
Priest
Rogue
Shaman
Warlock
Warrior

Earthen in World of Warcraft have some racial abilities, which also make them unique. For one, they have the Azerite Surge ability which gives you an AoE cone of fire. They also have Hyper Productive, a trait which increases finesse by 2%, meaning they’re great gatherers. 

Earthen also have the Titan-Wrought Frame ability, which grants additional base armor, and Wide-Eyed Wonder which improves experience gain for exploring a location by an additional 200%.

They always count as well fed, but cannot consume food. However, eating a Khaz Algar gem allows you to change which benefit your receive from being Well Fed in the following ways:

Amber: Stamina
Emerald: Haste
Onyx: Mastery
Ruby: Critical Strike
Sapphire: Versatility
