Are you wondering if Halo, the notable Xbox exclusive, is coming to PlayStation? You’re far from the only one. The days of a genuine console exclusive may be ending, although Nintendo likely won’t ever let Microsoft get its hands on a Mario or Zelda game. PlayStation exclusives have dropped on PC recently, including Spider-Man 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. Will Xbox exclusives like Halo and Gears of War make the jump as well?

Halo, Gears of War Primed for PlayStation and PC

Halo is reportedly coming to PlayStation soon according to a report from IGN. A leaker uncovered the plans for Microsoft to port Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PlayStation 5 soon. That’s not the only place it’s going, though, as the leaker also indicated that the recently announced Nintendo Switch 2 would likely get the collection as well.

This move shouldn’t be a surprise. Xbox has shipped off exclusives before, even though Halo was one of the final holdouts. Xbox president Phil Spencer said recently that nothing in the portfolio was off limits, and that he didn’t see any “red lines” on any franchise when it came to removing their Xbox exclusivity. PC has long been a partner of Xbox, so Halo eventually landing there isn’t a shock, either.

Gears of War is likely following down the same path. Both game franchises were formerly only available on Microsoft’s console but are expected to hit Sony’s by the end of the year. Most games from Xbox will end up on PlayStation eventually, and Gears is one of them. A recent report suggests it is planned alongside the Halo collection. “I’m going to learn about our partnership with other platforms. I’m going to learn about what happens with our players,” Spencer said when he first began porting exclusives out to other consoles. “I don’t think we should as an industry ever rule out a game going to any other platform.”

Slowly but surely, the catalog of Xbox exclusives is dwindling, and it doesn’t look like there will be any left by the end of 2025. Whether or not this truly helps Xbox dig out of the hole remains to be seen. Nevertheless, they are doing everything in their power to get back financially. Microsoft has not confirmed either report.
