With the release of Ubisoft’s Star Wars open-world game, Star Wars Outlaws, fans are scrambling to get the game on Xbox Game Pass.

Releasing right at the end of August, players are wondering whether to fork out their hard-earned cash on the title, or pick it up on Game Pass with their existing subscription.

Unfortunately, Star Wars Outlaws isn’t on Game Pass. Published by Ubisoft, and developed by Massive Entertainment, the creators have opted to not put the game on Xbox Game Pass and instead use the Star Wars brand to sell some more games.

This doesn’t mean the game will never come to Game Pass. Often, when a game doesn’t sell well or nears the end of its life cycle, it might be but on Game Pass as a way to get a bit more guaranteed money out of the well. However, we don’t expect the game to land on Game Pass anytime soon, as it’s reviewing well, but with a mixed reception from players.

It’s actually more likely to appear on Epic Games for free, given the title is already on that platform. We could just see this game being an Epic Games free game in about 18 months.

Is it worth buying Star Wars Outlaws? Is Star Wars Outlaws Good?

It’s difficult to answer that question. The game has received stellar reviews from numerous publications, and many Star Wars fans. However, Star Wars Outlaws also fell victim to bugs, poor PC performance, and other issues on launch. These issues seem least pronounced on PS5, so that might be the version to pick it up on if you’re going to.

Open-world games can sometimes be a toss-up on whether they’re genuinely great, or time sinks that distract you with chores. Star Wars Outlaws reportedly keeps things fun, but also falls into the same traps as all Ubisoft open-world games of being a game where you just chase map icons. Still, if you’re an Ubisoft open world fan, or a die hard Star Wars fan, you’ll definitely find some fun in this game.
