LoL Caster & Host Championship – the ultimate non-competitive showdown

China is known to be the region with the highest following when it comes to esports in general but also LoL in particular. The competitive scene is so big that even casters and host have their own tournament, the League of Legends Caster & Host Championship (英雄联盟解说主持杯 in Chinese).

After its introduction back in 2020, the format has returned for 2024. Just like the name suggests, the championship features Chinese casters and hosts from all competitive esports titles, including LPL, LDL, LCK (Mandarin), WRL.A (Wild Rift). This year, however, VCT China casters was not included.

Format and Schedule

The tournament featured a total of 9 different teams, which are led by 9 captains who each picks their players. The competition runs from September 6 to September 22 and it’s divided between group stage and a Knockout stage.

Group Stage

The group stage is a single round robin where all matches are Bo1. Teams will be assigned to 4 matches on the blue side and 4 matches on the red side, with the top six advancing to knockouts:

Top 2 teams advances to Semifinals
3rd to 6th ranked teams will have to play in the first round of the knockout stage

In case of tiebreaker, the order is broken by:

Games differential
Head-to-head results

Knockout Stage

The top 4 then play in a double-elimination bracket for the title. All matches are played in presence (offline) in Bo5 format. This year, a new addition has been made, as team leaders will have to play in Fearless Draft Mode, meaning they cannot play a champion more than once in each series.
