With only one final left in the Summer Playoffs, the other top teams are getting ready for the Regional Finals in the last chance to qualify for Worlds.
LPL 2024 Regional Finals – Teams
Below are the teams that will compete in the LPL Regional Finals (ordered by seeding):
#1 – TBD
#2 – LNG Esports
#3 – Ninjas in Pyjamas
#4 – JD Gaming
The #3 seed will be one team between Top Esports and WBG. If WBG were to beat BLG in the LPL Summer Playoffs final, TES would be seeded into the Regional Finals. Otherwise, it will be WBG taking part (with Top Esports qualifying for Worlds 2024 as LPL’s second seed).
Format
The Regional Finals is the only part of the summer split that didn’t undergo changes. The top four teams in championship points (that aren’t already qualified for Worlds) will take part in a single-elimination bracket. The top two seeds will face off in the upper bracket, with the winner of the match getting the LPL #3 seed. The loser will have to face the winner between #5 and #6 to determine the last seed. All matches will be Bo5s.
Schedule
Round 1
G1: TBD vs LNG – Saturday, August 31, 10:00 CET
G2: NIP vs JDG – Sunday, September 1, 10:00 CET
Round 2
G3: TBD vs TBD – Monday, September 2, 10:00 CET
LPL Regional Finals Prediction
Based on what we have seen so far, the potential #3 seed (WBG or TES) will likely get a spot at Worlds based on recent form. They have looked a small tier above the rest so both are expected to make it. For the fourth slot, instead, things are going to be a lot more uncertain, given that LNG, JDG, and NIP have all looked shaky. LNG looks like the better candidate but JDG can potentially match them if they show up in stronger form. NIP is probably the least likely to make it among the four teams.
