Palworld, the fan-favorite open world survival game is heading to the mobile platform. The announcement comes after Krafton, the parent company behind PUBG Mobile partnered with PocketPair, the official developer of the game. Now, the South Korean publisher has confirmed that that PUBG Studios, its in-house game development studio, will be in charge of developing the game for mobile.

The mobile port, still in the early stages of development, promises to expand Palworld’s reach further. The existing title, which already gained massive popularity following its release on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, continues to be a strong contender with a super active player base, despite its ongoing legal challenges.

Nintendo’s Success in Question Due to Ongoing Lawsuits

This success of Palworld, however, has come with controversies which isn’t shocking in the gaming scene. Just weeks before the mobile port announcement, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filed a joint lawsuit against PocketPair for alleged patent infringement. Unlike the initial criticisms from fans who pointed out striking visual similarities between Palworld’s creatures and Pokémon, this lawsuit reportedly focuses on deeper gameplay mechanics.

However, it’s still not certain what the lawsuit entails. Nevertheless, PocketPair has risen to the occasion and said they weren’t aware of the charges levelled against them. The developers also inserted themselves into action and declared that they would continue developing the game and fighting for indie game creators to be allowed to make whatever they want.

Despite the legal problems, Palworld is still a strong contender in the market of video games. After making it at the Tokyo Game Show and its unscheduled release on PlayStation 5, the mobile spin-off is another achievement for it. Battle royale enthusiasts eagerly await ‘PUBG Studios’ take on the mobile conversion now that they know it won’t sacrifice survival mechanics and creature collection.

Nevertheless, the current legal battle against Nintendo makes will indeed make PocketPair’s further development even more challenging. However, the developer is not disheartened and promises to carry on supporting its growing fan base.
