Skewmond to replace Yike on the G2 lineup
According to a report by Sheep Esports, the French jungler was the player with the most interest by LEC teams during the offseason. Aside from G2, SK Gaming, GIANTX, Karmine Corp, and Team Heretics were also interested in the player.
Team BDS wanted to promote him after playing in the academy squad in the past year. The player received the offer when G2 was playing at Worlds, but SkewMond declined.
The jungle king of the ERL
SkewMond made a big name for himself in the past season, carrying Team BDS on both LFL splits, and winning the LFL Summer as well as EMEA Masters. Mainly known for being a Nunu main, SkewMond is able to pilot a variety of champions from mages to bruisers, to tanks, making him a versatile player.
The French player is also known for his strong performance on the ranked ladder, having peaked at 1976 LP during this year, and is currently leading soloQ in Split 3 with over 1300 LP.
SkewMond to replace Yike
With this move, SkewMond will have to fill the shoes left by Martin “Yike” Sundelin, who joined G2 in 2023 and had a similar path to the French player. Yike made a name for himself in the LFL on the LDLC OL, and then earned his way to a spot on G2. Despite the domestic dominance in the LEC, with five split championships out of the six available, Yike and G2 weren’t able to achieve strong results at international stages, failing to qualify in the top 8 at Worlds for two consecutive years.
While SkewMond’s arrival to G2 will be one of the most anticipated moves of the offseason, there will be plenty of expectations and pressure on the rookie, considering G2’s winning record in the past season. The LEC team is yet to lock in their support player for 2025, following Mikyx’s departure alongside Yike post-Worlds.
