Capcom Cup XI Preview
The Capcom Cup is a finale to the lengthier Capcom Pro Tour. However, it’ll all be decided in a single tournament. We’ll see the tournament take place from March 5th to 8th. With these three days to see who takes home a million in prize money.
The event begins with a group stage. Players compete in matches for the first days, before we move to a bracket. This second stage is where we’ll see things heat up. Players go head-to-head in a double-elimination bracket. With the competitors gradually whittled down to the very best. It’s a common format for fighting game esports but it works.

Capcom Cup XI Hits Japan
The Capcom Pro Tour is a truly world-wide event. There are offline Majors and online tournaments across tons of different regions, but the finals can only be held in one place. This year, it’s going to be set in Tokyo. Specifically, the Cup will be held in the Ryōgoku Kokugikan arena.
This will make a fitting home for the Capcom Cup XI. We’ll see all the international players converging in Tokyo for this final. This arena was home to early events for some of the best games of all time, like Street Fighter 2. It’ll be great to see the highest-level tournament once again returning to this location.
Prize Pool
Along with recently confirming the location, Capcom has confirmed the prizes for this year. There will once again be a million dollars at stake. The boost in prize money for Street Fighter 6 has done wonders to increase attention on fighting game esports. It wasn’t a one-off though. We’ll see the same prize pool represented once again in 2024.
The Capcom Cup 11 is starting up again very soon! We’re just a few months away from the first offline event. In the meantime, we’re about to start getting balancing changes for SF 6, so it’s going to be a busy month for SF players.
Capcom Cup XI Gets First Details Announced
At the conclusion of the Capcom Cup X, we got our first details for the next round of the tournament. This is going to be the 2024 Capcom Cup, resolving at around this time next year. The last Capcom Pro Tour carried a record-breaking prize pool, crossing over a million dollars for the victory. Next time, it’s going to be the same. Capcom is meeting their previous prize pool, at least to the winner of the Cup. It’s yet to be made clear if the amounts for runners-up is going up or down.
The Capcom Pro Tour is going to be running similarly to last year as a whole. It’s going to be an international competition, with events that take place across the world. The previous year’s Capcom Cup had a fair bit of online focus. We can likely still expect a decent number of these style of events this year too.
The exact qualifying tournaments are yet to be announced though. There might be some innovations with this or more events getting bumped up to qualifier status. Last year’s EVO tournament saw one player qualify, but notably the final Capcom Cup was missing quite a few of these high-ranking players. If the format is staying the same, players will have to take each of these chances to qualify very seriously to take another shot at the big prize at the end of the Capcom Cup XI.
