The VALORANT meta is about to shake up as a new leak unveils a significant Phoenix buff set to arrive in Patch 9.10. More specifically, the buff will impact Phoenix’s flash and wall abilities but that’s not even the main highlight. The biggest change Phoenix is going to receive is a new gameplay mechanic called Regen Shield. So, without any further delay, here’s a detailed breakdown of all the Phoenix buffs arriving in VALORANT Patch 9.10.

Phoenix receives major buffs in VALORANT 9.10 Patch leak: New Armour type incoming

First, Phoenix’s wall now goes through obstacles. The best part is it can pass through any solid object, not just the wall. We believe it’s specifically helpful during post-plant situations and when entering the sites.

Next, the flash is now Phoenix’s signature ability, replacing the molly. As a result, when you get two kills as Phoenix, you start to recharge your flashes. This means you can have more than two flashes in a single round — potentially even four! That’s a pretty big deal for Phoenix’s utility, especially in eco and pistol rounds. Since the flash is now a signature ability, you get a free one every round, so you’ll only need to buy one additional flash. This gives you more flexibility in buying and you can potentially have two flashes while running a stinger on eco rounds.

Finally, there’s a new armor mechanic which is the biggest buff. Phoenix can now regen up to 25 armor points from a pool of 50 HP. You won’t be able to exceed 150 total health, so the Vandal and Operator will still be one-shot kills to the body. We’ll have to wait for the full patch notes to get a more detailed explanation of how this works, but the new armor type is called “Regen Shield” in Patch 9.10.

Interestingly, it doesn’t seem to be limited to Phoenix. It’s possible we’ll see this on other agents in the future, or maybe even on Sage as she’s also receiving some changes.
