On the other hand, KRU Esports was one of the teams that only some expected to qualify for VALORANT Champions. They finished third during the VCT Americas Stage Two tournament. An interesting fact about KRU Esports is that they are among the few teams qualifying for every VALORANT Champions tournament.
Map 1 was played on the Haven map. To everyone’s surprise, KRU Esports swept aside DRX on this map. The first half ended with a score of 10-2 in favor of KRU Esports. Melser was the MVP during this map, helping his team win. Melser ended the map with a kill-to-death difference of +18, securing five first-bloods.
During Map 2, DRX flipped the script on their opponents. They kept their lead and moment from the first round of the map. DRX won the map with a score of 13-6. The MVP on this map was the rookie Flashback from DRX. He ended the map with an ADR of 221 and a kill-to-death difference of +14.
DRX similarly won the decider map with a score of 13-6. With this, DRX secured a reverse sweep in their first game in VALORANT Champions 2024.
“I have always had my eyes on KRU since 2021, and I want to be able to match their firepower and out-aim them. It definitely means a lot to us,” said MAKO in a post-match interview.
Fnatic Prove Why They Are One Of The Best Teams In The World
The second match for the day was between Fnatic and Bilibili Gaming. The last time these two teams faced off against each other was almost a year ago during VALORANT Champions 2023. The first map was played on Bind, which was the map picked by Fnatic and had a first half score of 7-5 in favor of the team. It was filled with incredible moments, such as Derke’s 3K on the Operator.
Fnatic did win the game with a scoreline of 13-9. The player who stole the show was whzy from Bilibili Gaming. While his team lost, he ended the game with the best KDA of 23/6/1 while playing Raze. Map 2, on the other hand, was a one-sided affair. On their match pick, Fnatic made sure that Bilibili Gaming had no time to breathe. Out of the ten rounds won by them on defense, seven were through killing the entire enemy team before they planted the spike. Fnatic went on to win the game 13-4.
