VALORANT Champions is taking place in Seoul, South Korea, this year with some of the best VALORANT teams worldwide taking within this tournament.
The last two days of the tournament have proved why the hype for this event has been incredible. Leading up to the event’s third day, many wondered which teams would come out on top. There was an anticipation for the face-off between Primmie and Aspas.
Aspas VS Primmie: Who Came Out On Top?
Following the announcement of each group for VALORANT Champions, two things were discussed. The first was Group B, the group of death, and the second was Aspas vs. Primmie. Since Leviatan won VCT Americas Stage Two, many were excited to see how the team would perform. Their roster includes two world champions, Aspas and C0M.
Within the Pacific region, there was one player who made waves following his debut, and it was Primmie. This is the first time Talon Esports made it to VALORANT Champions and the matchup against Leviatan wasn’t favorable.
Game breakdown
Game 1 was played on Bind. Talon pulled out a very interesting team composition consisting of Neon and Yoru. But Leviathan went on to secure the win on this map with a score of 13-11. While all eyes were on Aspas and Primmie, one player stole the show, and it was kiNgg. He ended the game with a kill-to-death difference of +10!
Game 2 was played onf Ascent, and Talon fielded what many called the zombie team composition. This was because their team consisted of Sage, Kay/0, Phoenix, Clove, and Sova.
On this map, many saw what we have been raving about Primmie. Talon lost this match with a score of 13-8. Primmie ended the map as the on Sage with a KDA of 22/13/5. In the 14 duels between Aspas and Primmie, Primmie came out on top with eight wins to 6 by Aspas.
When asked about the difference between ranked and scrims between North America and the Pacific region, Aspas answered:
“The players are so aggressive, even in ranked or in scrims they are much more aggressive than North America.”
Trace Esports Cause One Of The Biggest Upsets Against Team Vitality During VALORANT Champions
Going into the second match, many believed the result was a given. Team Vitality had just finished runner-up during Stage Two of VCT EMEA.
According to all the casting and analyst talent in VALORANT Champions 2024, no one predicted that Trace Esports would win the series. Trace Esports is the third seed from the VCT China League, although they fall pretty far down the VC power rankings.
This team consists of players such as FengF, Kai, and LuoK1ng, known for their aggressive synergy within their region.
Game 1 was played on Ascent. It was a mirror between the two teams. During the first half Team Vitality had the lead but towards the end they game went to overtime. During overtime Trace Esports secured the win and took the first map in their favor. LuoK1ng ended the game with three 3K and a kill-to-death difference of +10.
During the second map, Lotus, we saw the return of Team Vitality back in form. Losing this map would take them one set closer to elimination. With this, Team Vitality started strong during the first half, winning 8-4. Team Vitality did go onto win the map with a score of 13-7. They could have won the game in the 19th round, but Biankk from Trance Esports got a 4K to his name and secured an incredible 1v3 clutch.
In the final map, Team Vitality started strong, taking the score to 5-1, but the score following the 12th round was six all. Once Trace Esports got on the attack side, they unleashed havoc, winning seven rounds in a row to secure the win for Trace Esports.
