Esports organization GIANTX has announced the acquisition of the League of Legends AI coaching start-up iTero Gaming.
GIANTX acquires iTero Gaming in multi-milion deal
The acquisition will enable GIANTX to utilize AI-driven performance coaching for the game, providing it to fans and gamers around the world.
As a result of the acquisition, the founder of iTero Gaming, Jack Joseph Williams, has joined GIANTX as its Head of Gaming Technology. GIANTX did not share specific financial numbers of the acquisition but the organization mentioned the operation is a multi-million deal.
“I’m excited to be joining the GIANTX team. EXCEL ESPORTS was the first esports team I became a fan of and I’ve followed their journey over the last few years,” said Williams. “I believe and have always believed that data and AI have the potential to seriously disrupt the status quo of esports, whether that’s finding undervalued players or identifying strategies outside of the standard meta.“
“We are thrilled to announce our acquisition of iTero Gaming to help elevate player performance to new heights!” said Tim Reichert, Co-CEO of GIANTX. “This marks a pivotal moment in GIANTX’s ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence in esports, empowering players worldwide to achieve their competitive best.
An AI tool to help players improve in LoL
Launched in September 2022, iTero Gaming quickly became one of the leading tools used by League of Legends players to improve their gameplay. The startup managed to reach over 250,000 downloads.
As someone who has used the tool himself, iTero Gaming offers a great range of information about fundamental aspects of the game, allowing players to quickly get information about their gameplay and improve on-the-go. Not only does the tool help improve the mechanics but it also teaches wider aspects of the game, such as the synergy of a team composition in any given lobby.
GIANTX is a multinational esports organization born from the merger of UK-based EXCEL ESPORTS and Spanish esports team Giants Gaming. It is mostly known for competing in the LEC and the VCT EMEA League, as well as the Spanish ERL with the academy team GIANTX Pride.
