VALORANT Champions Day 4 has wrapped up and it was filled with hype. It consisted of the rematch between Paper Rex and G2 Esports. Leading up to this matchup, there was quite a bit of banter between the two teams. In this article, let us look at some of the crucial moments from today’s games.

G2 Esports Stops Paper Rex From Getting Their Revenge

G2 Esports is the only team from the 4 VCT Leagues that won a VCT Ascension from their region last year and qualified for VALORANT Champions 2024. This year, they were among the best teams in their region.

Paper Rex, on the other hand, is the second-best team in their region. Towards the end of VCT Pacific Stage Two, they couldn’t hold on to the lead in the lower bracket finals and lost to DRX. Due to this, many wondered what wasn’t going well for the team.

Going into map 1, G2 Esports started strong and secured a comfortable lead in the first half of the match. Following this, Paper Rex tried to initiate a comeback, but it didn’t work in their favor. With an incredible 4K on the flank by Leaf, G2 Esports secured the map of the Icebox.

Game 2 was played on the Lotus map. On Defense, they won the first six rounds in a row, which the community didn’t expect. If we had to tell what the game changer on this map would be, it was the weapon Odin. Players like Trent made the most of this weapon on the A plant site. Due to playing a non-Sentinel team composition, they were vulnerable to the backstab.

G2 Esports secured the win with a scoreline of 13-9 during VALORANT Champions Day 4. The MVP of this game was none other than JonahP. In the post-match interview, valyn answered the following when asked about the win against Paper Rex:

“It feels very good to come out for our first match with a victory. We know it will be a long journey, but starting strong means a lot to us. The boys showed a great game today.”

EDward Gaming Put A Strong Foot Forward During VALORANT Champions 2024 Day 4

If there were one matchup with uncertain results, it would be the game between EDward Gaming and FUT Esports. This was the first time these two teams faced off against each other. FUT Esports is one of the few teams in the tournament to have all players from their country, Turkey.

EDward was by far the best team in VCT CN. This was proved by them winning every regional tournament within their region. This year, though, they haven’t been the best during international VALORANT tournaments, which has resulted in their lower ranking in our power rankings.

In game 1, EDward selected a unique team composition with Clove and Breach. On the first half, they had a lead of 8-4. They secured the win with a score of 13-9 during VALORANT Champions Day 4. The player to watch was Smoogy, who played Clove, and the game ended with a KDA of 23/15/7.

Game 2 was played on the map of Bind with a mirror composition between both teams. Similar to map 2, EDward Gaming, on the attack, took the score to 8-4 in their favor. FUT Esports, ensuring the game didn’t snowball, began the second half by winning four maps in a row. But it wasn’t enough, as EDward Gaming secured the win with a score of 13-10

This result makes it the second time in this event that a team from VCT EMEA has lost to a team in VCT CN. It just goes to show that EMEA might not be the powerhouse many people think it to be.
