One of the biggest events on the horizon right now for fighting game fans is the Tekken World Tour. We’re winding towards the end of the year, and we’ll soon have full roster locked in for this big end of season blowout. One of the players competing this week has seen his journey end early though. Despite an impressive performance, XCC has now been disqualified from the Tekken World Tour.

XCC, this weekend, attend a major international tournament. A masters event for the Tekken World Tour. It was an eventful one for the player. He got ahead and managed to secure a spot in the final bracket for the event. However, the player didn’t end up competing.

It seems he was disqualified from the running, what happened? The tournament was a qualifier for the Tekken World Tour. It seems Bandai Namco have had to enforce a rule which fans might not have been watching for.

XCC Barred from Tekken World Tour

After some initial confusion, an explanation was eventually given for the player’s run through the bracket being stopped. In a statant released, they said:

‘We had to disqualify a player from the Thaiger Uppercut (Master event) who does not reside in an eligible country under the Tekken World Tour 2024 regulations. Although we did our best to explain the circumstances to the player and followed the official rules, this led to an unprecedented situation. We understand that this decision has caused disappointment among some members of the community, and we will consider adjusting the official rules for future reasons.”

XCC is from a country that isn’t a part of the Tekken World Tour. However, this wasn’t flagged before the tournament began, which led to this frustrating situation.

End of the Road for XCC in 2023 Tekken World Tour

After the events of this recent tournament, it seems XCC can’t compete in this year’s Tekken World Tour. However, they did leave the door open for some kind of change in the future. Maybe in the next TWT, we’ll see the rules on eligibility loosened up to allow all the players who excel in fighting game tournaments to take their place in the finals.
